Whose In Charge Here?

The Filmmakers Nation is part of “The Filmmakers Channel Network”. Both as well as other sites are the brainchild of a 30 year burned out corporate refugee who has the belief that main stream media (the small screen) and Hollywood are mostly out to lunch when it comes to providing high quality programming on just about any subject.

If you’re a filmmaker reading this you are likely in agreement and share the belief that “Anderson Cooper Ain’t News”. The real passion for telling stories and revealing truth doesn’t come from corporate media it comes from independent media and more and more people are waking up to this idea each and every day.

30 Years and a Vapor Trail

My name is Dan Latrimurti and I’m the burned out, 30 year corporate refugee in the picture looking for renewal and salvation through providing independent filmmakers with more ways to distribute their movie, make money and grow a profitable and thriving business. (in the spirit of transparency the picture above is not what you would call recent).

For 30 years my soul was bought and paid for by the company store until one day (the day before my b-day by the way) I got told that da’boss had someone in a China to do job for me! Happy Birthday!

For the most part those 30 years were spent doing high level systems integration and software training for large semiconductor companies. It was at times a great gig. I traveled to Taiwan, Korea, Japan, France, Germany and all over the US.  I enjoyed eating real Chinese food (which has no comparison to American Chinese food), experienced a Korean haircut (thank you Mr. Lee) and Bavarian beer from Bavaria.

At the time of my departure I had things pretty well laid out but with my ticket punched it brought home the fact that – as they say, ‘the best laid plans of mice and men….’.

Inspiration

I was drawn into the alternative/independent media universe by a good friend named Tony DellaFlora. Tony who is an ex Albuquerque Journal writer, film producer and film festival owner had a little movie called High Strange New Mexico he had made a number of years back and we did a little project of offering it as a PPV stream and did some minor amount of marketing.

Within 10 days Tony got an offer of distribution. Wow!

This was the initial inspiration but is minor in contrast to the underlying emotion in me that is abhorred by most of the media that gets pumped out of networks and the studios. Yuck! Independent films and media (though not a perfect world) offers the public and viewing audiences so much more that it’s a shame for such to be largely restricted to film festivals (and we actually have a distribution solution for them too but that’s another story).

Motivation

Anyways to close on this brief introduction, I just wanted to be 100% and completely transparent so that if you are a filmmaker know that when you call and contact the Filmmakers Nation who you’re going to be dealing with and why.

You should also know that there is somewhat of a method to this madness and there is a very specific vision and plan behind what The Filmmakers Nation and Filmmakers Channel is all about that is much more then just DIY (which I don’t believe in by the way). It’s a pretty powerful vision that I’m somewhat addicted to (which is just on the other side of committed). Anyway……

I’m not a big corporation coming to this game simply as a way of adding to the bottom line. I’m a seeker of truth, skeptical of MSM (Main Stream Media) and bring a personal desire, passion and commitment to see filmmakers and independent media producers (finally) begin to enjoy the fruits of their labor without having to give (or sell) their souls (and their creative freedom) away to the company store…….and in the process keep myself from having to fly another 1,000,000.00 air miles to make a living.

Check things out, get in touch and let me know how I can  help
